Ride to Work With Me In Pictures

A few weeks ago, I decided I needed to find a new route to work. I took a role in a marketing department at the end of February of this year, and I love everything about it, except my highway commute.

It’s dangerous, I don’t know what it is about this particular area but other drivers act like complete jackasses, and I know my cortisol levels are spiking at 7 AM and that can’t be a good thing. I didn’t like how defensive and angry I was every morning.

So I found an alternate back roads route which adds only minutes to my commute and gives me gorgeous view heading to work and back home. Win/win.

This weekend, I took my husband and one of our dogs along with me so I could finally do what I don’t have time to do in the morning; pull over and take some photos of my favorite spots along the route.

The great blue heron catching dinner was particularly exciting! That’s a marsh that runs along the frontage/service road into my work. I’ve seen a white heron in here once before, but it’s not an area I could safely pull over [there is no pull over]. I mentioned that yesterday and just a few feet ahead, we saw this beauty catching fish.

Thankfully it was nearly 7 at night and no one was around, and my husband was driving. So he threw it in reverse and I was able to get these shots. We were quite a distance away and my lens only went so far, but all in all it was pretty spectacular to see them, and I like the photos I was able to get .

There are a few other picturesque spots here but this is where we were able to stop.
